FAQ for Gargantext users

Import / Export a dataset

Import ant and export options are limited to certain formats defined by the type of resources. Gargantext is rather glutton but only eat special dishes prepared carefully. Here is the full menu of Gargantext diet:

CSV

Gargantext loves eating data from CSV but as a new born baby you need to split up properly the dishes using a tab separated value.

For importing or exporting data from Gargantext the same procedure is applyied:

Before uploading data to gargantext or once you downloaded the csv file with the Export button

you should proceed to this steps:

  • Using Excel:
  1. Open up the file inside Excel and Select all the data (select the first cell then hit Ctrl+A/cmd+A).
  2. images/CSV_1.png
  3. images/CSV_2.png
  4. faq/images/CSV_3.png
  5. Save it specifying that the file is in CSV format (.csv)
  • Using Open Office:
  1. Open up your existing file inside OpenOffice:
  2. A window will ask you how to split up the data with a specific separator
  3. Choose the tabulation option in the drop-down menu.
  4. Verify that your data is correctly shown and ordered
  5. save it confirming the separator as tab separated value and text value with "" .

ZIP

Gargantext accept a huge amount of data but if the size of the dish exceed 1 Mo, Gargantext will refuse to eat it at once, you should compress the data using a zipping compression tool such as WinZip or any other compression tool.
